Continue in the Semester Break

Today i meet Sir Saiful at early morning, and discuss with him about SCADA.. I make a simple hardware to understand the concept of SCADA system. the harware is same like the system on the parking when the car arrive the motor will turn clockwise. after the car passing through the motor turn anticlockwise. here i attach the picture of the hardware.

Submition of progress report & proposal report

Today i submit of both of report which is progress report and proposal report. Here i attach the picture of the report. After doing this report i already get the picture what i want to do next. The task i will follow the schedule as planned. based on the planning, this project will be finish on 1 March 2012. other than that, by submit this report i already finish the FYP 1.

Discuss with supervisor about proposal

Today meet with my supervisor to take back my draft proposal. My supervisor comment on my proposal which to include more information about my project. I already think what to add into that proposal. After taking back my draft, i straight away repair my proposal report because the final submission of this report by this week which at 9 November 2012.

Testing LM35 with PIC

Circuit to Measure temperature use PIC

Today i testing the LM35 with the microcontroller. The different between my project with this circuit is, this circuit use the PIC as a interfacing between input and output. For my project i want to use PLC as a interfacing between input and output. but the function still the same. I contruct the circuit that i found in the internet, and assemble it. Above is the picture of the circuit.

Meet Sir Saiful

Assalamualaikum, today i meet with En. Saiful at 11 o'clock. i ask him about the visual basic. As i mention in previous post. Cx-one is one of the scada software. Visual basic also the scada software. i can choose either one to use. this is depending on En saiful which software that he can teach me because he is the only one can teach me to do the scada. without him i think this project cannot be done. as in work plan every Thursday will be the time to meet En saiful.

Submit draft proposal.

Today i already submit my draft proposal to my supervisor. This submission is to make sure that the proposal that i had made will fulfill the requirement. The due date for this proposal on week 14 which is on the next week. I am really sure that this proposal will finish on time as in schedule.

Go to Jalan Pasar

Im go to Jalan Pasar, go to the Nixie Shop to buy the component. I also ask the Nixie Technician about my project. The technician give an opinion  to add something in my project. The diode is actually is very important in the circuit because function of diode is to protect the source to get the reverse current. for the circuit function well we must put the diode between the wire. That the knowledge that i get in Nixie, Jalan Pasar, Kuala Lumpur.

Progress On My Proposal

Today i make my proposal report, today i already finish on objective, problem statement and work plan.This proposal must be submitted on week 14 which is at the end of the week before 4pm. The date is on 9/11/2012. Currently almost 20% of the proposal report have i finish, another 80% i will finish in this week. This week a little bit busy, i need to focus on other subject but i will make sure that my report proposal will finish on time.

Today i would share about my Block Diagram of my final year project. Block diagram is actually is the overall view of the project. Based on the Block diagram we would know the flow of the project. My project has a temperature sensor, cooling element, heating element, PLC module, Cx - One, and computer. Below are the listing what type that i would use in the project.

1. Temperature sensot = LM35DZ
2. Cooling element = water
3. Heating element = heater
4. Plc module = CP1H
5. Sofware Scada is Cx-one.

Meet My Supervisor

Today i meet my supervisor to show her slide of my presentation. We discuss what should i add in that slide and remove the things that not important to say. I would be present of my proposal final year project on this Thursday, 11 Oct 2012. I should be prepare to answer all of things that assessor ask. Based on the research that i already made i should be fine in that presentation. I attach the Picture of my slide as a prove that i doing the presentation. 

Get an Information

Today i will go out meet one of my friends which is my senior to ask him about the PLC. I already forgot what i have learn in PLC. actually i already learn PLC in my Diploma but when i don't practice or play around with that thing i almost forgot about it. So today i will remain back what have i learn in the PLC syllabus in my Diploma. My senior are stay at Taman Ukay Perdana at Ampang Selangor. hopefully i can understand and remind back what have i learn in PLC because one of the task that Sir Saiful give is to create one of the program PLC in the real life. I decided to make system an car park which is same as Figure below.

Learn SCADA system

Today meet Mr saiful, one of the lecturer that know about SCADA. Learn basic thing about SCADA such as want to operate a motor, how to control a switch, also learn about coding in the Visual Basic. He is the one that master in Scada which through Visual basic. I present about my research on the new software that he want me to discover which is Cx-One. Cx-one is one of the Scada software produce by OMRON company. I had research the program and know a little bit function on Cx-one. Next task, En Saiful want me to design one of the program in the real life that can be monitor and control. He ask me to come and see him again next week.

PLC in Real life

From research that i have done. The PLC is one of the important thing that should know when we want to go in the industry. this is because many industry will use the PLC compare with the PIC. function of pic and plc is almost the same which is it will read data from sensor make as an input and produce the output. here i attach a overall proses picture.

From the figure above, the picture shown the real life of work in industry. As we can see, the PLC will be use in the industry. From learning PLC it will be the value added for me to get job in industry.

My Proposal

My proposal should include Introduction, methodology, progress time, and many more. Already done a little bit on the proposal.

Today i continue my work by doing a proposal. These proposal will be submit at the end of the semester. besides that, i also searching and get information about PLC.

Learn PLC

currently searching for learning PLC program which is the PLC can interface with scada to communicate with the sensor or device that we use. In generally, the scada system is to monitor and control anything. between the scada and the device that we use such as sensor we need one platform to interface the analog signal from the sensor and the coding that we produce at scada system. that why i need to know PLC also. here are the link that i can study plc : http://www.plcs.net/

Doing some work

This week i'm going to do design of my project. this design actually is an environment that we can monitor the temperature. Example that i'm going to do is i would like to choose one of the material that can heat the water such as the aluminium mug. at the side of the mug i would like to put a sensor LM35 to detect the heat of the water. so from that i can know the temperature of the water inside the mug.

Research on Power Demand

doing a little bit research on the power demand in Malaysia. I had found that power demand on Malaysia has exceeded their limit. That mean the people in Malaysia is use the electricity exceeded than TNB produce. Here i attach the link :

Weekly Progress Report

week 1
- thinking about the final year project.
- discuss with advisor which it can be accept or not.

week 2
- confirmation about the title that going to do which is temperature sensor.
- it not only temperature sensor it must can control and monitoring that temperature.

week 3
- searching information about the controlling and monitoring temperature.
- the sensor that going to use is LM35DZ which is one of the temperature that can measure temperature.

week 4
- searching information what need to use to control and monitor that temperature.
-after discuss with advisor, we would like to choose Scada system to control and monitor the temperature.

week 5
- do some research and start to do the proposal.
- meet advisor and explain progress which is the scada system need to be wait because the technician already buy the sofware. for temporary use the pirate first.

week 6
- learn the sofware to handle the Scada system. Find the person who can teach the scada system.
- already download the pirate sofware and show it to En.Saiful master in Scada.

week 7
- En. Saiful a bit busy this week. wait for the next week to learn about scada from him. but i keep digging to know well about the sofware.
- Actually the scada system is about to handle the sofware very well, after that you can monitor and control what ever you want. So my 1st target is to learn the sofware from En.Saiful.
